All of us look for truth. Unfortunately, unless you are the beneficiary of a very specialized education or have taken it upon yourself learn about critical thinking, logic and other similar skills, your search for truth is likely to be less fulfilling than it could be.
Truth isn't a feeling or a belief. Truth is not that which makes you feel better. Truth relies on a dispassionate consideration of the available evidence. Most of us are familiar with two standards of evidence; "preponderance of evidence" and "reasonable doubt".
Reasonable doubt is the standard we use in criminal cases. This is a very demanding standard, requiring the prosecution to eliminate any other reasonably possible explanation for the facts of the case.
Preponderance of evidence is the standard applied to civil lawsuits. Under this standard, the side that brings the best and most evidence wins. This is also the very minimum standard any prudent person would accept before believing something.
There is often a big difference between how we think things are and how they really are. Sometimes that difference becomes apparent and we experience a sort of paradigm shift; a "duh" moment. This website documents a few of those moments that seemed especially meaningful.
